no most most make-up counters will hire any one and send them to training to teach them make-up techniques.However a little experience helps.Do you need to have gone to beauty/makeup school to work at a makeup counter at a major department store?
No they usually give you training and courses to further your understanding but having experience and knowledge would look good on your resume and be a bonus to the employer.

I think it would depend on what your job is behind the counter. Whether or not you're showing the make up to ppl or actually using it on the customers. I would check it out w/ someone at a local mall.
