Well...yes and no. Working at the make up counter the people make more than all other associates in the store because they get additional commission on top of the hourly rate, plus they start out at a higher than minimum wage rate normally. I worked for estee lauder as well as clinique, and it is along process as far as interviewing. The make up counters have their own management and people to answer to as well as the Macey's store itself. So you have to normally interview and take these little tests to get in to see if you are good at sales and what you would do in certain situations. Like...describe a time when....bla bla bla. those are the types of questions.
I first interviewed with the fragrances and makeup manager
Then with the counter manager of the actual counter
Then with the store manager, then with the clinique account coordinator and then the regional coordinator. If you are good at sales and have a flare for make up you can do it. It is fun, but sometimes they make it more stressful than make up really needs to be because you have to meet different quotas and sales goals every day, week, and month.
